MIDTERM BLOG 1 SECTION 8 (special group 6)

To begin my blog posts, I would first like to say that Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle were all wonderful philosophers. And each new blog will be focused on each one in particular. Today I would like to keep my focus on Socrates. Socrates was a Greek philosopher according to ancienthistory.about .com. He was also a very great one indeed. It is said that Socrates partipated in the Athenian democracy. However because of his teachings he killed himself by drinking poison. Basically he was going against what the government wanted and it was just too much. The Athenians were just totally against Socrates. And as smart as he was, the Athenians were just not going to try to see eye to eye with Socrates which is sad.
Fortunately, Plato was one of Socrates students that actually continued on with Socrates teachings. And I will get more into that into the next blog for Plato. Some small facts about Socrates is that he was born in 470 B.C. and died in 399 B.C.  in Athens. The government viewed Socrates as something abstract, or out of the normal. Such as Athens was beautiful with paintings and art, but Socrates viewings were “ugly” because he wanted to think more in depth for thinking all around. Also, Socrates was forced to drink the poison or hemlock because he was actually introducing new gods, and not believing in the gods of the city. This was a very bad thing to do in Athens. Socrates is not really known for his writings, but of what his students, Plato, passed on to people about Socrates after Socrates death.
