Is "My" God "Your" God, (part 2). Khendal Lillard

The link above is to the video I mentioned at the end of my first post. It's a video briefly discussing some of the points that I will cover in this post. I've already talked about the first point which had to do with the interpretation of the second commandment of the "ten commandments". It declared that making false idols and worshipping them is forbidden. I used the example of some Christians worshipping and praying to statues of the virgin Mary. This is clearly breaking the commandment set in place but is often seen to be acceptable because of Mary's role in the bible.

Christians are instructed by God to worship him. Since no one knows what he looks like, the worship experience becomes spiritual. This brings me back to the title of the post. Do all Christians worship the same God? In my opinion the answer is no. Most Christians worship a God that best fits their lifestyles. Their God accepts them the way they are and as long as they remain in the Christian faith, when they die, they will inherit the kingdom of God, heaven. Sure, that does sound similair to what Christianity is all about but, it isn't the truth. According to the Bible, God is a loving God. It also says, in the book of Nahum in particular, that he is a jealous God. You're probably shaking your head right now and I admit that it is hard to believe that God is jealous but, the bible tells us just that. The lies that Christians believe, and the trend we have of conforming to the ways and beliefs of the world are the main reasons for his jealousy and hatefulness. He doesn't like to come second to anything or anyone else. He desires to be the main focus in a Christian's life and when he isn't he will turn into a jealous and wrathful God, destroying his adversaries just to have you to himself. I said that to say this. A Christian that worships false idols are subject to the wrath and vengene of God. This explains some of the bad things that happen to Christians. They blame the devil for everything bad happening in their life but, sometimes they are unknowingly suffering from the wrath of God because they are not truly worshipping him. They are worshipping the idea of who he is but not the true God.

The next thing I want to talk about is the concept of heaven and hell. Im sure everyone has heard of both of these places. One is a place of paradise and the other is a place of darkness and evil. So what determines where you go after death? That decision is based mostly upon the life you live meaning your actions and not your thoughts. Christians often are blinded by the encouraging passages of scripture in the bible and miss out on the passages that really relates to them. They think that regardless of their actions, they will go to heaven as long as they have been baptized. Yes, the baptism process is necessary but that is just the first step. You have to truly change your life. The bible tells us that we are all born in sin, so you cannot continue to live that way. Maybe this story will help you understand where im going with this:

There was a young boy I grew up knowing. He was a lot younger than I was so we weren't all that close. He was a fun and loving kid but also a mean and disrespectful one as well. He would curse out his mother at the drop of a hat over simple problems. He even hit her. His family would just laugh it off but this was truly a problem. One day while riding bikes with his friend he was hit by a car and died. At the funeral I remember everyone saying that he was in heaven looking down on them and that he was with God now. They assumed those things out of habit but, truth be told, everyone doesn't go to heaven. God would not be the just and righteous God he is said to be if he let him into heaven. He was baptized at an early age but still lived a sinful life, breaking several commandments daily. This brings back the question of exactly what God Christians believe in. One could say that his family can't possibly believe in the biblical God because he would never let sin into heaven, which is why I ask is my God the same as their God if we are all of the Christian faith. In this situation, the answer would simply be no because my God doesn't tolerate evil the same way theirs does.

In my next post I will be discussing and giving my opinion on the concept of God loving the  world and everyone in it as well as visiting some other unpopular bible doctrines.

  1. It seems to me that you have misread, misheard, or misunderstood a few things from the Bible, that being said, could you give me some Scripture to back up your claims? These in particular: Where do you get that Christians are supposed to follow the Mosaic Law? Where do you get that Christians will be judged in this life, and the next, based on their actions? Where do you get that God's mood and view of us changes based on our actions? Where do you get that baptism is essential to salvation? These are just a few of the issues that came up from reading your previous posts, I'm not trying to be difficult or call you out or anything; I'm just curious on how you back up your claims.
