Hey all, sorry I'm getting this up so late but oh well. I look forward to seeing you all again tomorrow and getting back into the wonderful world of philosophy.

Also the discussion:
Why are things the way they are? How should things be ideally? What would a utopia society be like? Is it even possible to create a utopia? If so how would a utopia assure personal freedoms? What then should we do to those who wouldn't cooperate with the system? If you control or punish them, is it really considered a utopia?

Very interesting, well-known philosophy question Logan. Well personally I do not think we can create a Utopia but let's create an imagination for a second. If I was to create a Utopia I would erase all crime, bills, rules, and hurt. Therefore, there would be no rules to violate or go against. When you create a system with no worries why would there be punishments. So to answer your last question no it would not be a Utopia because there are still rules and regulations to violate. Which ruins my ideal system!
ReplyDeleteI believe that things happen for a reason, and it's your destiny to be in that moment, at that time. I also don't believe that a utopian society is achievable. A utopia is an "ideal society." Everyone's view/ideals/values/morals are different, and with a large population, that leaves room for a lot of radical opinions.
ReplyDeletePast people's mistakes and discoveries are the reasons why today is today. A utopian society is where every individual looks past themselves and acts for the society as a whole. I don't think it is necessarily possible because this kind of society is based off of perfection and nobody is perfect. If a utopian society existed then there would be no need for punishment or control because everyone would be able to cooperate and coexist.
