Offended?

Don't be, would be my advice.

Just a word on the subject of free speech. It's a wonderful thing to be free to say and write "terrible" things in public. Some students have expressed distaste for some of the posts here. That's understandable. I share some of that feeling. Some of us are just more comfortable with, and more habituated to, more colorful forms of expression than others. But an old philosopher once advised: you can't be offended unless you choose to take offense. We don't have to like what others say, or how they say it, but defending their right to say it as they please is a relatively small price to pay for the privilege of living in a free society. Right?
